Venue Requirements

for Tattoo Services

To ensure a smooth, sanitary, and fully compliant tattoo experience at your event, your venue must meet the following health and safety standards required by the Florida Department of Health:

Hard Flooring Only – The tattooing area must have non-absorbent, hard flooring (like tile, wood, or concrete). Carpets or rugs are not permitted due to sanitation standards.

Designated Area Away from Food/Drink – Tattooing cannot take place in or near areas where food or beverages are served or consumed. A private or semi-private room is ideal.

Unobstructed Access to a Hand Sink – A nearby hand sink must be easily accessible and free of obstruction. If located in a restroom, the door must remain open and the sink stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and a waste bin.

Adequate Lighting – The area should have strong, direct lighting for precision and safety.

Clean, Ventilated Space – The tattoo area should be free of pets, clutter, or personal belongings, and must maintain a clean, well-ventilated environment.

No Children Allowed in Tattoo Area – For safety and licensing reasons, children are not permitted in or around the tattooing space.

18+ Only for Tattoos – All tattoo clients must be 18 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID. IDs will be photographed and stored securely for recordkeeping.

Consent Forms Required – All clients must sign an event-specific tattoo consent form prior to getting tattooed. No exceptions.

We’ll handle all the permits, setup, and equipment — all we need is the right space to make the magic happen. If you’re unsure whether your venue qualifies, we’re happy to coordinate with the event manager or do a quick walkthrough beforehand.

 FAQs

  • Almost! The venue must meet Florida health standards for temporary tattoo setups — this includes hard floors (no carpet), proximity to an unobstructed hand sink, and a clean space away from food or drink. A private or semi-private area is best.

  • No. Children are not permitted in or near the tattooing area, both for safety and to comply with Florida licensing regulations.

  • Clients must be 18 or older — no exceptions. A valid photo ID is required and will be photographed for recordkeeping, as per state law.

  • Yes. Every guest getting tattooed must sign a dedicated consent form for the event. I’ll provide all necessary paperwork to keep the process easy and professional.

  • Yes — I provide everything: tattoo table, lighting, machine, sterilization setup, sharps container, and more. You just provide the space that meets the health standards.

  • Yes. I am required to apply for a temporary tattoo establishment license and a biomedical waste permit for every event location. Don’t worry — I handle all the paperwork and filing.

  • Yes. Florida charges a $285 total licensing fee per event. This includes the temporary establishment permit and waste generator registration. The fee is included in your quote.

  • Absolutely. I create a custom flash sheet based on your theme, aesthetic, or event vibe. Guests choose from those pre-designed options to keep everything smooth and timely.

  • I offer a temporary tattoo bar with skin-safe designs as a fun, inclusive alternative! Great for guests who love the experience but not the commitment.

  • Absolutely! Temporary tattoo stations are a great option for high-volume or mixed-ages.

  • That depends on how many hours I’m booked and whether I’m solo or working with a team. On average, I can tattoo 8–12 guests in a 3–4 hour event. If you’re expecting a larger guest count, I offer team packages to accommodate more tattoos within your timeline.

  • To keep things smooth and time-efficient, I only offer tattoos from the pre-approved flash sheet. If you’re interested in something fully custom (like a personal matching tattoo or couple’s piece), I recommend booking a private appointment outside of the event date.

  • I’ll send over a quick setup guide prior to your event, but here’s the short version: I need a clear space with hard flooring, near a hand sink, and away from food or drink stations. Bonus points for a space with access to an outlet and natural lighting (but I bring my own lighting just in case!).

  • Guests should avoid alcohol before being tattooed and eat something beforehand. It helps prevent lightheadedness and ensures the tattoo heals properly.

  • For safety and liability reasons, I do not tattoo anyone who appears visibly intoxicated. This is a non-negotiable policy to protect both myself and your guests.

  • To keep the process smooth, each guest is limited to one tattoo during the event. Even small designs take time — from choosing the flash, to selecting size and placement, to applying and adjusting the stencil if needed. Some guests request changes after seeing the design on their body, which is totally okay — but that time adds up. Limiting it to one per person ensures everyone gets the same thoughtful attention without delays or long wait times.

If your event has a smaller guest list or you’d like to offer extra tattoos for select guests, let’s talk — I’m happy to create a custom experience for you.

  • Nope! These setup and licensing rules apply only to real tattooing services. If you’re booking the Temporary Tattoo Bar experience, there are no setup requirements or inspections needed.

  • No. Florida law prohibits tattooing in outdoor environments. The setup must be indoors, enclosed, and weather-protected.

  • I can provide a portable handwashing station, but it must be approved by the local health department before the event. I’ll confirm this during the licensing process.

  • A Department of Health inspector must examine the venue and my setup before tattooing can begin. I’ll arrive early and handle all paperwork. Tattooing cannot start until we pass inspection and the permit is issued on-site.

    • A day-of inspection is mandatory. I will need early access to the venue to set up and meet with the health inspector. Tattooing cannot begin until the inspection is passed and the permit is issued.

    • Every county is different. I handle all health department communication, but each county may have unique processes or additional requirements.

    • Venue consultations are available. Some counties offer a pre-event consultation to walk through the venue and give feedback. I’ll advise you if one is needed.

    • Licenses cover up to 14 consecutive days at the same venue if your event spans multiple days.

Private events, brand launches, weddings, and more — we bring custom fine-line tattoos to you for an unforgettable experience.
